Productions specialise in outdoor drama and have been involved with the weekends
celebrating the life and work of J.R.R. Tolkien at Sarehole Mill, in Hall Green,
Birmingham, from their start in 1989. Members have presented dramatic excerpts
from "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" at Sarehole Mill and Moseley Bog which are part of the Shire Country Park. They also staged an
adaptation of Tolkien's Farmer Giles of Ham for the international gathering
Tolkien 2005 at Aston University in Birmingham. Many current members were involved
with an early production of The Hobbit at Sarehole Mill in 1989, when the films
were not even a twinkle in anyone's eye! The
drama group appear at The Tolkien Weekend alongside the Shire Country Park
Rangers, The
Tolkien Society, the City Libraries, craftspeople, poets, entertainers and local
volunteer groups, to provide this free community event.
